Abstract
Quality of life of retired athletes can be affected by several factors such as reasons for career termination and problems of retirement course. The aim of this study was to develop a Structural Modeling of quality of Life of retired athletes Based on Sport Career Termination reasons and Problems of Retirement Course.Taylor and Ogilvie's conceptual model and France's quality of life theory were used to explain the results. The statistical population of this quantitative research included all retired athletes in Isfahan province and since there was no comprehensive list of these athletes in the sports boards, sports clubs and sports and youth officse of Isfahan province,By Convenience sampling,153 retired athletes were selected and employed in this study. Data were gathered through standard Quality of Life questionnaire (BREF), Sport career termination reasons, and Sport career termination problems questionnaires(Erpic, 1998)that their validity (0.44, 0.23, and 0.34, respectively) and reliability (0.95, 0.86 and 0.93 respectively) were confirmed. The data were analysed using smart PLS3 with Partial Least Squares method. The results showed that mean and standard deviation scores of sport career termination, problems of retirement course, and quality of life were 52.64±13.37, 71.83± 21.54, 89.58± 17.17 respectively. Results showed that sport career termination reasons have a significant effect on problems of retirement cours (β=0.60, p<0.01).Sport career termination reasons do not have a significant direct effect on quality of life(β=0.18, p>0.05),but have a significant negative indirect effect(β=0.35, p<0.01),and problems of retirement course have a significant effect on quality of life(β=0.58, p<0.01).Generally, the results of Structural Equation Modeling confirmed the conceptual model of the research. Acording to the results of this study, effective policies and programs based on the reasons for career termination and problems of retirement course should be selected that can be helpful to improve the quality of life of retired athletes.
