Abstract

This study examines the state of street furniture in the public spaces of Khalilabad neighborhood in northwest Tabriz. Given its significance in urban design, street furniture is often neglected in informal settlements. This applied research employed field studies and semi-structured interviews for data collection, utilizing content and thematic analysis. The findings indicate that both the quantity and quality of street furniture in Khalilabad do not meet standard requirements. Residents expressed dissatisfaction with issues such as poor asphalt conditions, inadequate trash bins, insufficient lighting, lack of equipment at bus stops, absence of parks and benches, minimal greenery, and the overall appearance of the neighborhood. The primary factors behind these deficiencies include unauthorized constructions, lack of attention from authorities, economic constraints, insufficient supervision, weak interaction between residents and officials, high population density limiting installation space, and the absence of effective urban planning and management.
