The Relationship Between Lifestyle Changes in Two Generations (60s and 80s) and Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development in Arak City, Iran

Abstract

Social entrepreneurship is a driving force of economic development, and the dependence of social entrepreneurship on unmet social needs necessitates paying attention to lifestyle changes, the requirements of different age groups, and the changes arising from them. Considering the cultural map and provincial-level priorities of the Seventh Development Plan of Markazi Province within the socio cultural axis, the lifestyle of youth and adolescents constitutes one of the essential research priorities, and the research gap in this regard raises the issue of the research problem. The theoretical framework of the study was a combination of the theories of Bourdieu. The research method was descriptive of survey type, and the statistical population consisted of those born in the 1960s and 1980s in 44,351 households in Arak. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between lifestyle changes and social entrepreneurship, and between lifestyle changes and economic development. Hierarchical regression and path coefficients also indicated a direct and strong effect of lifestyle changes on social entrepreneurship, a direct and strong effect of social entrepreneurship on economic development, a direct and weak effect of lifestyle changes on economic development, and finally, social entrepreneurship is a strong mediator between lifestyle changes and economic development.
