This research examines the lives of Afghan migrants in the Damgostar livestock farming complex in southern Tehran.Using a qualitative method and an ethnographic approach, the researcher gathered data by participating in the lives of two Afghanfamilies and a single individual employed at the dairy farm. The findings indicate that the migrants have established a parallel system through informal economic mechanisms, which is based on three pillars:modern patron-client relationships, a resistance economy, and the reproduction of cultural capital. The study suggests that migrants have adapted to difficult conditions through creative and selective adaptation strategies.Female migrants, in particular, play a crucial role in developing "social capital" and participating in economic activities.Additionally, the female body is viewed as a political text—both a limited and controlled domain and a tool for everyday resistance.Educational and health challenges for children and women, particularly in accessing medical services and educational opportunities, are among the key issues addressed in the research. This study critiques classical migration theories, demonstrating that migrants are not merely victims of structures but active agents who adapt to their circumstances through everyday forms of resistance and the creation of parallel institutions.Ultimately, the research provides policy recommendations, such as formalizing parallel economic systems and establishing mobile health centers.
