Master Shahriar's poem, "Message to Einstein," serves as a cultural and historical critique of Western civilization. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical method within civilizational studies, this research examines Shahriar’s critical approach to what he labels "non-civilization."
The findings reveal that Shahriar distinguishes "technological progress" from "civilizational authenticity," viewing the West as decaying due to the rupture between science and ethics. By reinterpreting cosmology through Islamic mysticism, the poet rejects materialism, arguing that Einstein’s atomic knowledge can only achieve sacred truth—rather than destruction—if anchored in monotheism.
Shahriar’s condemnation of weapons of mass destruction is a fundamental protest against "instrumental rationality" that sacrifices human dignity for dominance. Ultimately, the article explains that by inviting Einstein to the "Empire of Conscience" and Abrahamic spirituality, Shahriar proposes a return to love, piety, and committed science as the solution to the deadlock of material civilization. This approach positions Iranian civilization as an ethical alternative to modern materialism.
