Protracted crisessuch asprolongeddroughts, economic sanctions,and pandemicsunlike suddenshocks, gradually erode social capital and debilitate collective mental health.The primary theoretical gap isthat existing resilience frameworks,includingthe classical modelsof NorrisandCutter,aredesigned forshortterm conditionsand fail toaccountfor the simultaneous interplay ofpsychological,social,and institutional factors within the erosive horizon of chronic crisesThisstudy aimstofill thisgapbyelaborating anintegrated framework for strengthening psychosocial resilienceThe research employed aqualitative methodologybased ona systematic review and theoretical synthesisofthe literature using thematic analysis.The research corpus comprised42credible scientific sources(22inEnglish and 20in Persian) retrieved from Scopus,Web of Science, SID, and international reports published between 2000and2025,which were analyzed through open and axial coding.The thematic analysisled to the identification ofsixprincipal components: social capital as the most foundational component, collective mental health with particularsaliencein protracted crises, responsive governance asacondition of possibility for resilience social justice in connection with the equitable distribution of the crisis burden, crisis communication systems,and technological capacities as enabling infrastructuresInteraction analysis revealed that the combined effectof these components nonlinearly exceedsthesum of their individual effectsThe innovative contributionof thisresearch is the synthesisof these six components into an integrated modelthat, unlikeprior models,foregrounds the independent roles of collective mental health and social justice as theoretical responses to the phenomenon of “gradual erosion” under chronic pressureThis frameworkcan serveas a basisfor integratedpolicymakingaimedat preserving social cohesion inIranandcomparablesocieties.
