The most important strategy for confronting floods as one of the environmental hazards is resilience. Lifestyle and urban resilience are closely linked; a healthier lifestyle helps increase the resilience of cities. This study, aimed at measuring resilience to flood events and its relationship with lifestyle, was conducted using a survey method and library research, with SPSS software. Questionnaires were distributed among 384 residents of neighborhoods where flood or street inundation events had been recorded.
First, lifestyle from the social, economic, and institutional, environmental, and physical dimensions, and then the resilience dimensions at the neighborhood level, were evaluated. To analyze the relationship between lifestyle and resilience, Pearson’s test was used, and to assess the effects of variables, regression analysis was employed.
The study’s results indicate that, given the differences in lifestyle across neighborhoods, their social resilience or adaptability also varies. In neighborhoods with higher resilience, environmental, economic, and institutional resilience is stronger, whereas in neighborhoods with lower resilience, social resilience is more pronounced. However, in terms of physical resilience, the resilience of neighborhoods is a function of urban morphology and the upstream watershed’s natural morphology.
